Iriver H340 boot problem

(1/2) > >>

benton:
Hello everyone,

unfortunately my Player shows some weird behaviour. I changed the battery and harddrive, 60 gb,  a while ago and everything worked fine  :).
After months the following occured: The Player didnt boot anymore but when plugging in the usb port and then plugging it off it started with rockbox. And most times I was able to boot a couple of times afterwards but not permanently.

Hmm - I think I somehow damaged the bootloader by switching firmware versions and/or bootloader versions.

I already tried to switch firmware versions and formated the harddrive and installed rockbox again - didnt help  >:(

Also I did overwrite the eeprom, which helps and the player boots ,but only once, the original iriver software.

I am really at a loss here because I love this player but I cant fix this booting problem....
If anybody might have a clue - please let me know.

P.s: currently I am using firmware 1.29E

Sounds more like a hardware failure related to the Play button to me. Also, have you checked the filesystem?

benton:
Hello bluebrother,

the drive is formatted in Fat 32.

I dont think the buttons are the problem. The player booots for example (for once) when overwriting eeprom and once booted all buttons work fine  ::)

Any ideas what to do? At the moment the player is reliably bootable only when plugged to usb   >:(

Thanks for any ideas!

The only file format you can use is FAT32. Have you checked the filesystem as in checked it for errors? On Windows use chkdsk /f

benton:
Hello,

chdsk done - no errors.

Player boots with usb / power when plugging off.
But then it most times doesnt boot. And if it  then only once. Thats my description at the moment  ::)

help still needed   ???
