So grateful to have come across Rockbox. Recently got hold of a Sansa Fuze V1, got rid of that terrible patronising interface in favour of the fantastic minimalist Gray_V3_XL, the additional features such as sound adjustment and bookmarking are just brilliant. Thank you all very much.
