iPod Mini 1G: Problems

After installing using RButil, Rockbox works fine, but sometimes causes the player to turn off completely, probably due to battery issues. I hear a pop on the headphones when this happens. When booting up the player, it may halt with the error regarding checksums, but RB has booted before, and often does after resetting the player. I have done a dosfsck of the filesystem and found no errors. Why are these two issues happening?
