how do you remove rockbox? the bootloader and the whole thing?
i don't want to use it anymore since the battery life is killing. 6 hrs without much use and the original ipod firmware can hit 10hrs

Llorean:
ipodpatcher N -w bootpartition.bin, assuming you kept your original like it is suggested you do.

To uninstall the Rockbox bootloader, you can type the following command to restore your iPod to its original state:

ipodpatcher -w N bootpartition.bin

where "N" is the disk number of your iPod (found using the instructions in Step 1b below) and "bootpartition.bin" is a file containing the original contents of your iPod's firmware/boot partition. This file is created in Step 1c below.

ummm i feel real stupid.. i must have totally bypassed saving my bootpartition.bin file...
is there any way to remove the rockbox firmware from my ipod and just go back to it like nothing ever happened?

Llorean:
ipodpatcher N -d

Use the newest version of iPodPatcher.

This is not *guaranteed* to work, as this functionality is fairly new. It works for me.

The only other option besides that is restoring the iPod using iTunes, which will force you to resync music.

This is why following instructions explicitly is a good thing.
