rockbox install troubles--what the heck am i doing wrong???

due to some previous RB problems, i had to reinstall it, so I downladed the newest version of the rockbox installer, went thru the process, extracted the lastest build to the root of my ipod, disconnected, rebooted, and got the folder icon.  I have seen a few others with this issue, but am not sure what I have done wrong.  I am pretty sure I followed all the steps...

i can use the installer to uninstal rockbox and all is is fine, but can't get it to boot into RB

Any suggestions?

I would suggest installing Rockbox the way the official instructions are outlined if you're having problems with someone's installer.

I was a little freaked the first time I saw the rockbox bootloader installation instructions myself, but I assure you that it's very simple and easy.  Just follow the directions exactly!
