[e200] Certain skins cause hang on USB connect

(1/1)

GooD Ol TarviS:
I'm having a very hard time trying to narrow this down, but I think it happens if the theme has a .sbs. Unfortunately, it seems to happen randomly which makes it tough to reproduce. Other times, it won't hang until after the device is unplugged, in which case the screen either turns fully white or shows a repeated image. Rarely, it causes a data abort.

SPECS:

Sansa e260R
4GB internal memory + 16 GB microSD card
Rockbox 3.11.2

I think it may be memory related, since sometimes upon successful (and unsuccessful) connects various graphics on the screen are progressively replaced by tutti-frutti colors and black lines.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Here is the theme I'm using (A modified HOLO-like to show the Album title in WPS) but I've noticed it also happens in iPodosha 1.4. Because of that, the next parallel between them might be the presence of a Now Playing spot on the bottom showing the song title.

saratoga:
I suspect that we have memory corruption in some circumstances between USB and the theme engine.  Unfortunately, I think Kugel is really the only one who understands this so he'll have to comment.

Lost_gamer:
I can confirm this behavior on my clip+. You described it very well, it never happens without custom .sbs and I saw some graphic and font corruption as well.

GooD Ol TarviS:
Alright, this seems to be the same issue as FS#12639 and has been fixed for next release.

Thanks, jd & funman!

As far as I am aware, this issue is still present.

An issue was found, and an issue was fixed, yet specific themes (all seem to have an .sbs) are still triggering various degrees of weirdness relating to USB failing to connect and image corruption.

There has most certainly been reports of this behaviour post the closing of that tracker task.
