Memory card periodically says it is read-only file system
« on: September 29, 2012, 04:33:53 AM »
Normal memory works fine. Usually memory card works fine also. But then sometimes I get ready to drag some files to the card (from my pc) and a message comes up saying it is a read-only file system and so I can not add files. What is happening? I have been unable to modify the permissions.

How do I check file system? I thought I had previously use a format function on the player but I do not find it now. Where is it?

I'm going to assume you are using Windows:

Plug it into your computer, open a command prompt and type:

"chkdsk /f x:"

but replace x: with the drive letter of your device.
