Can't Create Playlists

(1/2) > >>

TofuTorta:
I am using an iRiver H320, with Rockbox 3.11.2. I can't figure out the new method of creating playlists. I'm trying to create a list of all of the music on my player.

In previous versions of Rockbox, I could go into my music folder, press A-B to get back to the main menu, select Playlist, and Create a New Playlist. It would generate a playlist for the entire music folder, and put that playlist in the root folder.

In the new version, apparently "Playlist" has been replaced by "Playlist Catalogue". I have searched and searched, and I can't find any clear directions for how to do this. When I select Playlist Catalogue, I get a message that says "No files". If I press and hold NAVI while in the Playlist Catalogue, I get a menu that has Create Playlist in it, but when I select that it just takes me to this black screen with letters on it. I've seen this screen before; it's Rockbox's interface for text input. I can figure out how to add and delete characters from the filename, and how to cancel the playlist. What I can't figure out is how to save it. I think I've pushed every button at least half a dozen times.

Please, could somebody give me super-simple, step-by-step instructions for creating a playlist of all music files on the player? I'm really stuck here.

Thanks.

I am having the same issue with a Sansa Clip Zip. I can't save the play list only edit the playlist name or cancel it. Even with the file name highlighted you can't save it???

Here are instructions for the Sansa Clip. I've tried the long select to save on the Iriver H300 sim and it didn't work for me, bug?.

Load all tracks to a playlist.
Main menu -> Database -> Artist -> <All tracks> -> <Untagged>
If it asks to erase the dynamic playlist, Select = Yes - click middle button.

Saving the playlist.
You should be on the WPS screen. Long click on the middle 'select' button.
Context Menu -> Playlist -> Save Current Playlist -> Edit name -> Long click the middle button to save

Built-in editor controls (on the clip+).
cancel - power button
save - long select

Playlists are saved in the 'Playlist Catalogue' section in the main menu, which is the Playlists folder in the root folder.

You will need to edit the filename so that it saves in the //Playlists folder.

So is the information in the manual wrong then? It tells you to press "Play" to exit the virtual keyboard and save all changes.

If I am not mistaken this is wrong! You need to change the path to /Playlists with the virtual keyboard to save the current playlist in the Playlist Catalogue, which is quite annoying for me because I want all my playlist being in the Catalogue. The manual doesn't tell you this in the section "Saving Playlists". Or is there any other way to save the current playlist in the Catalogue?

Greetings,

You're correct. You'll need to edit the filename to point to the playlists root folder. I apologize for the confusion. Perhaps you can suggest that playlists should automatically be prepended with the //Playlists path.

The only method that I've figured out to have the playlist automatically save to the //Playlists path is from the file browser:
Files -> long-select a folder -> Playlist Catalogue -> Add to New Playlist -> long-select to save

Controls for the editor may be different for each player. I'm only familiar with the Sansa Clip controls.
