ClipZip dying display?
(1/1)
Octopuss:
I noticed some weird behaviour with the display. Sometimes it wouldn't turn on despite the whole player being functional and even playing music. It would stay totally black. Switching off and on didn't help it. It would eventually activate but I guess it was random.
Later I noticed the display was _almost_ completely black, but I could see a little something if it was dark enough around me. Is the display dying? I thought Rockbox went nuts, but even after completely formatting the player and installing Sansa firmware, I still can't see jack shit.
Interesting fact is that the display is pure black with the player unplugged, and almost black (pretty much unredable anyway) if plugged in an USB port.
What gives?... ???

This absolutely smacks of hardware failure.
Its not possible for an error to span both the original firmware, and Rockbox, and have it not be so (to the extent of my knowledge). That's not to say that it wasn't caused by Rockbox (sure, this is possible) but this is a risk that comes with the project itself. Even releases aren't guaranteed to be free from error, unusable/unstable/git HEAD significantly less so.

I didn't really believed it was cause by Rockbox for longer than five seconds. But it's so weird I was like wtf...
And I absolutely hate to RMA stuff. Bleh.
