Loop play on power on?
« on: September 07, 2012, 08:06:26 AM »
Hi fellas,

I've been searching forever for something that will play a sound when turned on, such a simple task but nothing will do it. It has to turn on when power is applied and loop the sound until power off.

Will "Rock Box" perform this function? if so what player would be recommended to install the firmware to?

Its been a frustrating and expensive path finding something that will just play a damn looped sound grr.

I believe it is possible with rockbox. You can set rb to auto resume playback on start and you can set playmode to repeat. For the player - look at the frontpage for 'stable' category.

Thanks wodz, thats what I wanted to hear.

For the choice of player, it needs to be easily played via loud speaker and easily "turned on" idealy just turn on when battery is inserted. To be clear I want it to turn on emit sound as soon as external power is applied. I'm guessing most players are not going to have a simple on switch that can be left on when power is disconnected unfortunately :/ if any.

The car adapter mode does what you want. On with power, then off when its removed.

Hey sarotoga, sounds good! So will this work with all players? I was thinking the on-off switch would be seperate from the firmware control but what do I know  :'( I'm thinking sandisk clip+ unless someone tells me otherwise..

It does work on the clip, and should work on most other players unless they're incomplete ports that can't detect the charger for some reason.
