Repair DC-in Archos Jukebox Recorder 10 v1

Hi,

Just came across Rockbox after digging up this old player after 5 years, and didn't know something like Rockbox was possible.

I never used the player again after the DC in stopped working.
When plugin it to DC it won't turn on, only on batteries it still works.

Perhaps someone here can help me.

I just opened up the jukebox and didn't see anything fried on the PCB.
I'm a electrician noob, so perhaps someone can help me out what to measure.
I only have a standard muti-meter for voltage, amps measurements.

I don't have the original DC adapter, only a universal 3-12V 800mA (20W) adapter, perhaps I need more amps?

It's been my experience that they won't work on the DC adapter alone - they need the batteries to provide enough current for the HD. No matter how capable the charger, the charging circuit in the Archos won't provide enough horsepower.
Otherwise your charger should work fine.
