Sansa E280 v1 not being recognized

If the flash chip was loose would it allow me to play? Also, I noticed while playing what's accessible on there is getting scrambled. You pick an artist and it plays someone else. Some artists are no longer accessible(just hangs)and some are scrambled. Also, if relevant, I'm having an issue deleting files off the sd card separately. I put the card in as a stand-alone and it see and pulls up the files but errrors out after a very long time. May be un-related or I wonder if it has any thing to do with how RB writes to disk.

If storage and USB don't work right in both firmwares, its probably some kind of hardware problem. You could check if the flash is loose, but a worn out flash chip seems more likely given that some of the files seem scrambled.

Just formated after booting in sansa mode. I didn't check the files first cause I was so excited it recognized and went through. 2 things I did before hand; I had another e280R that I can't see the screen(broke)and isn't rockboxed. I plugged it in and it didn't see that either but I took the battery out pit it in that one unplugged it and plugged in the e280 v.1 and it saw it. Also; and I think this is really a stretch, I changed the rip seeting back to WMA in WMP. Not sure if that means anything.
Do I dare rockbox again? Also, I was gonna try taking the players apart cause I have a 250 I was gonna put my 280 flash in but the screws are rusty and having a hard time unscrewing. Any advice?
Post Merge: August 30, 2012, 10:24:13 PMBTW I started a process of converting my WMA files to MP3 so that I could upload them to the cloud. Amazon won't do WMA. Should it matter what format I load on the player? And one thing I forgot to mention is that I dragged alot of my music over but after RB did use WMP sync a couple of tims and it worked. Could that have created issues?

The WMP rip setting has nothing to do with the problems you were having. I suspect you have a loose connection and/or failing hardware.
I would suggest using it with the Sansa firmware for a few days - if it starts acting crazy then you know the problem is the hardware. If it behaves then you can try Rockbox again.

One more thing I should add. I also USB splitter from China in between. Since my problems were related to the USB recognition, could that have caused some of my issues.
One thing I know is that I can't use my dock with rockbox;-( No worky.
