It will then do an auto install of the rockbox drivers leaving me with being disconnected again.
Should I uninstall the RB program from the host so that it doesn't reinstall it?
Then how do I keep it in the sansa fromat? Why is it forcing a new driver and utilizing rockbox instead of what would be the default, ie Sansa.

I simply want my E 280 to work. I can't help but think that RB is the reason it is not able to be recognized. But I can't get if off without it being recognized and it's jacked as it is. Is there a way to dump what's on there?
If storage and USB don't work right in both firmwares, its probably some kind of hardware problem. You could check if the flash is loose, but a worn out flash chip seems more likely given that some of the files seem scrambled.
