Unable to uninstall Rockbox from Sansa Fuze 4gb running 02.03.33.
« on: August 19, 2012, 01:54:35 PM »
The Rockbox utility does not allow me to remove the bootloader and I have tried replacing the .bin file with no change.

Explain what you did and hopefully someone will have an idea.

Edit:  rereading the first post, I'm guessing you skipped the whole "reboot into the sandisk firmware" step.  If you don't do that it will indeed not work.

Basically, the Sansa Fuze will only boot Rockbox or Sansa firmware when holding the left key down and powering on. I have been unable to remove the bootloader that contains Rockbox. I have tried replacing the fuzea.bin file with no luck. I am including a trace from the Rockbox utility.

Theres your problem, thats not a firmware file for your player.  You can grab the firmware file for you player ("fuzpa.bin") from the sandisk website.

And you're surprised it doesn't work?

The problem is that the bootloader can not be removed. The fuzea.bin file was the name of the original app. I have replaced it with different versions with no luck.

The Fuze V2 firmware is called "fuzpa.bin".  If you're downloading files named "fuzea.bin", you've downloaded the wrong file.  As I said before, go back to the sandisk website, and this time take care to download the firmware file for your player.

By reinstalling an unmodified sandisk firmware file.

According to Rockbox utility, I am running Sansa Fuze V2. The file that I downloaded from Sansa is  fuze02.03.33.zip. Inside are two files fuzpa.bin and clpp_data.dat. The original Rockbox install had a file called fuzea.bin. I renamed fuzpa.bin to fuzea.bin and overwrote the file. This did not work. I tried fuzpa.bin by itself, no luck. I now have both filenames in the root, same file, as you can see, no luck.

According to Rockbox utility the bootloader is called bootloader-fuzev2.sansa. Where is this file and how do I restore the original.
