Sansa Fuze V1 8GB, screen errors.
« on: August 16, 2012, 06:56:18 PM »
I've been having problems with my player for a while and it's particularly bad recently. I've been getting white screens of a sort, but more of an off white, not a pure white. Sometimes it'll fade out to that colour. Othertimes, the display will be garbled or skewed. Resetting it *sometimes* works, but not always, suggesting it might be a software rather than a hardware problem but a particularly bad one.

What should I do?

What's weirder is that when it was warped diagonally once, the *out of battery* message came on top of it, not garbled. It was very strange.

The *Out of battery* error over a colorfully warped screen rings a bell.  I've seen that before, but I can't remember where.  I think it was on an E200 series Sansa. Have you tried updating Rockbox, or even doing a complete install using the Installer?

I know I have an E280 v2 that does a different odd thing from yours: when you turn it on, the Rockbox splash page shows mirrored, then it corrects itself (the Sansa OFW stays mirrored), but right when my main menu screen is supposed to show, the screen goes white.  It functions normally, but the screen stays bright white.

I have no idea what's going on, but I do believe you're on to something with your software theory. As for my E280, I stressed the screen's ribbon cable once, and that's when my problems started.  You haven't been poking around in your player's innards, have you?  ;)

If these rings I run were lines, just imagine how much farther I would be.
