Mac OS X 10.8-iPod Video installation problem

I am trying to install rockbox on my iPod Video. I am running os x mountain lion. I make sure my iPod is being used as a disk and I close iTunes. Whenever I try to do complete installation it says Could not open ipod: permission denied on three lines in a row. It says this whenever I try to install the bootloader also. It is FAT32 format. It says a similar thing when I am trying to install it manually. Any suggestions? P.S. I am new to this. Thanks.

Are you attempting this as a normal user, or administrator?

Could be related to this Gatekeeper thing, but I'm neither familiar with that nor do I have access to 10.8. Try running it using sudo and see if that helps.

I finally got it to start installing on my ipod since I am now running the app in root mode. However, now whenever I try to install anything it keeps saying: Could not open Ipod in R/W mode. Any idea why?

Update: Got it installed and everything works great.

Yeah sure. I solved it by running the program through an app called "LaunchAsRoot". It started to work when I used this, however, it still didn't install all of the way. I had to put my iPod in disk mode manually for it to work, the hold select+play method when it was turning on. This is what ultimately worked for me. Happily running Rockbox now!
