Rockboxed Sansa Fuze usable with lod?
« on: August 07, 2012, 02:16:32 PM »
I will buy a Sansa Fuze and i will install rockbox on it. I wanna use my Rockboxed Fuze with a LOD. Is it possible?
I read at some forums, it is not possible, and at some others i read possible only at RBed Fuze v1.

Can someone enlighten me about that? Thanks for answers.

So i can't use a lod with RBed Fuze v2. Right?

And one more question saratoga. In terms of sound quality which one should i prefer? Clip+ or Fuze? I will use Sennheiser HD 25-1 II with them. Or Should i get a 5th gen iPod? Thanks for help.

Same device in a different plastic box.

The 5th gen ipod is mediocre by modern standards.

Which mp3 player can you recommend to me other than Sansa products with good sound quality below 250 dollars? I'm just trying to expand my options, not saying Sansas are bad.

this is a good news to me, just got my Fuze few days back and it's a V1
and will be receiving my LOD cable within the next few hours   ;)

only if the battery life for Fuze V1 RB can be further improved  :'( :'(
wondering do we have any hope on this ?

There are patches that improve battery life on the V1 on the tracker, but no one has worked on it in a while.  I think not very many people still use the V1 fuze.  FWIW, if you're going to plug the fuze into a dock, I would just get a powered one so that you don't even need the battery.

just realised that the last comment on the patches was 28 April 2011   :'(

was previously indecisive whether to get v1 or v2, finally decided on v1 after many readings similar to MotionMadness's findings, Rockboxed Fuze with Line-Out only works on v1

battery life vs Line-Out... i chose Line-Out  ;D

thanks for your suggestion on powered dock, but i'm actually connecting the line-out to a portable amp and will be using them for outdoor

i guess i'll make good use with the dual-boot feature when i'm out of battery juice  :D

am gonna RB my v1 today, wish me luck !!

If you're going to use a portable amp I would just use the headphone out. The line out is nice because the volume is fixed, but if you're using headphones anyway there is no need for that.

yup, i get what u mean, there shouldn't be significant difference when comes to headphone
but since i already have an portable amp, i'd like to try bypassing Fuze's amp (using LO)

btw, will it make any differences by Rockboxing since i'm using LO instead of PO ?
i believe all the key features under "WhyRockbox" (especially the EQ and crossfeed) still applies when comes to LO, right ?
errr... perhaps the High-resolution volume control ig gonna be N/A then

this question have been  puzzling me for quite some time (can't find any topics relevant to this)

Post Merge: August 09, 2012, 07:44:45 AM
please ignore my previous question..

just RBed my v1 and confirmed EQ and crossfeed works on LO mode as well  ;D

and guess what, you are right, there is no need to have LO (for headphone, at least...) can't tell the differences between LO output and PO output from my headphone  :-[

to be frank, the flat EQ from OF is way much better than RB's flat...
EQing in RB seems require quite an amount of knowledge...

are there any EQ setting for me as a reference ? am now testing on settings posted way back to 2009, wondering are there any good Fuze RB EQ setting recommendation from the official RB developer ?  :P

Yeah, there is no meaningful difference.  Same output, but through a different connector and with the volume set to 0dB.

They're actually exactly the same thing.

There is no such thing as "good fuze RB EQ settings".  EQ settings are per headphone, not per device.  Generally, what I recommend is getting some test tones and checking for any places your headphones sound a bit flat, and then correcting for them.  If you don't notice any places, don't use EQ.
