sandisk clip zip USB bug
(1/1)
DrTeeth:
I went to the bug report page and did not see my player listed. Please advise if this report is best placed in the 'bugs' section.
Firmware version 1e7f606-12, though issue existed with a previous version. tested under Win 7 x64 and WinXP 32 bit.
I cannot access my device's memory or micro-SD card via Rockbox. The best I can get is *one* drive letter showing and the volume label does not. I cannot navigate with this drive letter. I have to boot into the Sansa firmware to be able to access my storage space. On removing the device, both drive letters appear very quickly in my status bar.
Connecting via USB throws up an 'undefined error' and I have to hold down the power switch for > 10 sec, then give a short press to reboot.
Please advise,
DrT

I have a similar problem.
I used the version 4d8c5e5-120823 till today, now I have version fa5d225-120709.
My observations are that the behavior is randomic.
I tested with both an 64GB microSD in or not.
I get the following results:
with the SD installed
* often I get an error "undefined instruction" (to be precise I see the following sequence: the boot scren, the usb connection icon, and then the error)
* only sometimes I get the device recognized by Windows, and I see both disks in windows
* sometimes I get a detailed error
Without the microSD the USB recognition by Windows fails a bit less often. When it works of course it shows a single disk in this case.
Samples of the detailed errors are:
with version 4d8c5e5-120823
Data abort at 30 FSR 0x8 (domain 0, fault address 0x86B7A2 bt pc: 3004E038, bt end
with version fa5d225-120709
*PANIC* Unhandles IRQ (source unknown!)
bt pc: 3005D028,
A: 0005CF98
A: 300E6458
bt end
This rare errors with details were given upon connection to a Windows XP PC, with windows 7 i remember only "undefined instruction" errors.
shall I open a bug on the tracker?
regards
dwaltz

Hi dwaltz,
I did enter this in the bugs section, but got it deleted as it was a duplicate. When that happens one is supposed to get details of the original report of the bug so that one can track the issue - this did not happen.
This error happens all the time when I connect to the PC. To load to the player or to update the rockbox software, I have to boot into the Sansa firmware.
