iriver H340 a firmware file is already present on player iriver

I am so frustrated with this.  I must be missing something.  I get stuck at this message "a firmware file is already present on player iriver" when I use the downloaded hex file.  Do I have to delete the existing hex file on the iriver, have done this and still get the same message.  I have tried manually but still get stuck at this message.

Below is the log and hopefully it will help.  I have tried a couple of times to do it with no success.
Any help is greatly appreciated...must be a dummy.

The log doesn't show you trying to install the bootloader, so it's not really helpful. But you have selected c: as drive for your player ("mountpoint"), which is unlikely to be correct. Also, where did you put the downloaded hex file?

I put the hex file on the desktop of laptop.  I used the auto install. Don't know how C: got selected and don't know how to change it???

Use the big "Change" button in the main window. Then select from the dropdown list in the configuration dialog.

Changed from C: to I: which is where the iriver is connected but still gets stuck at "a firmware file..." when I click on the hex file on the decktop.

Then you most likely still have a firmware file on the player. Please post the system log after (i.e. save the log immediately) the problem occured.

1. You installed Rockbox to C: While this isn't a real problem it confuses detection of the player, and installing Rockbox to C: is pretty pointless. I suggest you to delete the folder c:\.rockbox.
2. The trace is either incomplete or something is really wrong here. While the summary tells something about a problem with bootloader installation the details don't show the bootloader installation getting invoked at all -- but the Logger part at the top says so. Did you edit the log?

Bummer bluebrother, I thought the log would have shown something.   I have deleted c:\rockbox.  I have not edited the log at all.  Saved it then changed the file to txt, that is all.

Are you on 64 bit Windows? I can't reproduce anything like that on 32 bit XP, and can't try on 64 bit right now.

I have 32 bit on this laptop.  A pain that I am in Australia, it's always slow correspondance being on the other side of the world.

A couple of questions -
Do I have to install the 'original' firmware that came with the iriver when I bought it or any  firmware upgrade?
Do I have to delete the existing firmware on the iriver first before I put the other one on?

Any firmware version is fine, and I'm not sure what you mean by deleting the existing firmware.

As in my very first post I get the message "a firmware file is already present on player iriver" so I thought maybe I had to delete the existing file on the iriver before I put the firmware upgrade on.  When i reboot the iriver after putting the firmware upgrade on I still have my existing file on there (it doesn't seem to work).  I tried both the 1-29 korea and 1-29 eu with both the same result.

Ah, sorry.  Yes I'd remove the existing hex file, but it seems from rereading you did this before.
