Sansa Clip Zip won't mount in Linux (Debian)

Just threw rockbox onto my Clip Zip and I love it! Unfortunately, when I plug it into my Linux machine, the player will either hang on the USB cable screen or throw a data abort error, either forcing a hard reset. After initially showing up once in Linux, the player hasn't shown up again, but it seems to work fine on a Mac. Is this an issue with the unstable rockbox version, or something else entirely?

Indeed, there seem to be lingering USB problems on AMSv2 players (like clip+ and the clip zip). Unfortunately, I can't get a grip on those problems. Sometimes it works fine, other times it produces data abort / undefined instruction problems.
