Fuze V2 Database issue
« on: July 11, 2012, 04:14:50 AM »
Hi everybody,

I'm totally new to Rockbox, first installed it on my fuze V2 yesterday.
I had issues with building the database from the SD card, although the Sansa firmware could without any problems. The fuze freezes during the process and I have to reset it.
I tried to update/reboot a couple of time, with no more success.

I then gave a try to the dev build, results were the very same, until at some point the fuze got bricked for real, can't even reset it no matter how long I hold the power switch (I tried for at least 2 minutes ^^).

No need to say it's not up to my expectations until now :-S

I read that I have a chance to revive it if I wait long enough for the battery to run empty, which should take a couple of days (the battery was fully charged).

Anyone has an idea of what could have happened and how I could solve it, if only it comes back to life eventually ?
Even if I'm not confident in trying again, the little time I had to try it I kinda loved it (I could access the SD card through the file browser, and database worked for internal memory), so if it's a known issue and/or you can come up with a safe workaround I may take the chance to try again...

Thanks in advance.

PS : I'm using original firmware 02.03.33 and RB v3.11.2

Some people have had their fuze not respond to the power button. Usually it starts working again as soon as the battery has been emptied completely after a few days

Thanks for your input, this confirms what I read elsewhere.
I just have to wait a few days and see if it will boot again or if it's plain dead... scary ^^

But since I prefer being optimistic, you have any clue about the SD database issue ?

When the baby is back from the next world I could try another SD card to check if the problem is reproduced, but since both the original firmware and windows can read my actual card without problem, I guess it's a rockbox bug or something...

Any idea is welcome ^^

So my fuze came back to life after draining the battery completely.
I made a clean install with the stable release and made a few tests :

With a 2gb no noname card : works perfectly
With a Patriot 16gb class 10 card (the one rockbox had issues building the database from in the first place), loading a couple of albums at a time : works perfectly
With this same 16gb card, loading 10gb at a time : rockbox failed to build the database

Anyone has a clue of what's happening and can propose a workaround ?

Thanks in advance !

OK people, rockbox crashed my fuze completely for the second time without ever working properly in the mean time, so I'm giving up on it... I'm sure it's a wonderful soft when it works though, I'm just unlucky maybe...

But then I lived well with the original firmware so far so I guess I can keep on enjoying my music without RB's tweaks  ;-)

Sorry for bothering you with my questions...
Cheers
