Installing talking brings error messages and no install
« on: July 10, 2012, 04:06:20 PM »
I tried to install talking so it could speak file names. It asked which folder should be used. That was confusing as it might be one of several folders that it could be used for but I picked the biggest folder.  It failed and I got the error messages:  TTS executable not found, init of TTS engine failed.
This was a reinstall on a Sansa Clip+ although I've never had the talking part going before.

How about to configure the TTS engine before using it? How is the TTS engine supposed to know which settings you want to use it if you don't configure it?

I was just trying to get Rockbox working again and, with some help, eventually got it appearing again. In the install it asked me if I wanted the part to speak a file name and I said sure. Then it asked me which folder and then I was stumped. I picked one and it came back as an error. Then I asked about it here and am told how can I expect it to work if I don't configure it. I have no idea about configuring these things.
