Resolved: 2 Question
« on: July 06, 2012, 07:04:10 PM »
Hardware/Software Info:
Sansa Clip+ with external sdcard
Running most recent Rockbox (stable) build.

First question :

The Rockbox Utility does not show that a new version has been installed under the Info Tab, still has a date of 2011 for most items. I have opened and closed the program and rebooted the player. Info tab still shows old versions installed but the player has the newest version in the menu.
(Just noticed the little quote in the info box about if updates were manually installed it may be incorrect) I have not manually installed, used the tool for everything. Also, just tried reinstalling on the new release of the utility (the one with the new GUI), and same thing.

Second Question:
Why does Rockbox constantly boot into the 'Settings' menu?

Just trying now on the Clip+ the Info tab works fine.  Which rbutilty build are you using?

Regarding 2, you can set the start up screen to anything.  I'm guessing you've inadvertently set it to settings.

Thank you for the quick response.

Question 1:

Tried it on version 1.2.14 (Built Jun 3 2012) and also on Version 1.2.14 ((644b83e) Built Jul 1 2012). Actually it seems only the bootloader is not changing and appears to have a wrong version along with the correct version both with an old date.

Question 2:
How do I change that? It just started doing this two updates ago. I don't mind reading (not lazy), if you could just point me in the right direction.

From that screen it looks like you initially tried to install the ClipV2 bootloader, and then realized you had a Clip+ and installed the right bootloader.  I wonder if the .bin file for the wrong bootloader is still on your player, confusing the installer?  If so you could delete it, or just ignore it.

The start screen is in the settings menu.

So you think deleting the v2 bootloader if it is present should resolve the incorrect date for the Clip+ as well or is that the most recent? To clarify, is the bootloader its referring a rockbox bootloader or the oem firmware boot?

Meanwhile I will try to find and delete the v2 loader.

Great, finally be able to change the screen.

I really appreciate all your help so far. Thank you

The date is actually correct, so it definitely won't change that.  It may not do anything.  I'm just guessing.

Rockbox.  The sandisk software doesn't really have a bootloader.

Last question, than I think we can mark this as resolved, again I appreciate all your help.

I have changed the startup location. Is Files as far as it goes or can I tell it to go to a more specific directory such as the sd-card?

You can set the default directory for the file browser as well.  I think you can long select folders and choose to make them the startup folder.

You are beyond awesome. Default menu was limited to basic locations, the long hold got me to select a specific location.

Thank you so much. Keep up the great work. Rockbox has made my Sansa Clip+ tolerable.
