Rockbox Utility 1.3 coming up

(1/1)

bluebrother:
Hello,

Rockbox Utility is about to reach version 1.3 soonish. This release includes some major changes to the GUI. Since this isn't one of the usual bugfix releases getting some more people giving it a try would be useful :)

You can find development binaries (Windows and OS X) at http://tinyurl.com/rbutil-dev. (Those still identify themself as 1.2.14, but you'll notice the difference immediately after starting it). Please help giving those a try and report any unusual issues in this thread so new bugs can be fixed before the release is made :)

(Oh, and translations haven't been updated yet. If you want to help please update the translation to your language!)

Nice!  I really like the new UI.

One thing though, I notice the "release candidate" option installs from the 3.11 branch.  Is there anyway the GUI can figure out which branch its pulling from and display that so that users know they're testing a potential 3.11.3 and not an upcoming 3.12 release?

Oh, the release candidate :)

Currently the server announces a release candidate that actually isn't a release candidate -- it's been built to test the release candidate support in the build system during DevCon. Apart from that is Rockbox Utility able to display the version for the RC only the way the server announces it. Optimally a RC should be announced with something like "3.11.3-RC", and also have a matching tag in git.

So for everyone testing those binaries, please don't install the release candidate builds :)

Just tested Version 1.2.14 ((644b83e) Built Jul 1 2012), mainly to troubleshoot something, and it works like a charm. Interface is definitely a little cleaner.
