Help! Clip+ Not powering on
maniac630:
Hello, I have had Rockbox installed for about a week now and everthing was fine. A few minutes ago, I had my Sansa Clip+ plugged in to my computers usb port. All of a sudden, the Clip+'s screen went dark, and the computer popped up a usb device not recognized. I tried plugging it back in, same message. I tried holding the power button for about a minute, nothing. What happened? How can I get it up and running again? I had a playlist set up on it for a party this Saturday and I need my Clip+ to work! Help!!!!!
Edit: Right now I know the unit is in a powered but unresponsive state. I cant do anything, the screen is black and off, but when I plug in headphones I hear a crackle, so thats how I know its on.

Hi, I had a different problem, but it also appeared when I installed the latest Rockbox with USB support. As a result, my Sansa Clip+ bricked. I think that possbily the Rockbox damaged some hidden partition or something, because the player worked fine for 14 months and then bricked. After several unsuccessfull attempts at recovering it, I decided to buy a new 2GB player, but this time I won't install Rockbox on it, or will install an ealier, more stable version with less features. Possibly, Rockbox is not as 'free' as it seems to be. Though I don't know for sure, because there always is a possibility of hardware failure.

This happened to me yesterday when I installed the latest development build...It became totally unresponsive...
I am still waiting for the battery to empty as I was told it should boot normally after that. Is this true? Or did I lose my Fuze? If so, can I sue the Rocbkox devs?

It should. I think I figured out how to work around this problem yesterday, so try updating once it reboots.

In most countries you can always sue anyone, but you won't have much of a case since rockbox comes with no warranty, and you were warned that installing it might destroy your player.

So you're saying it shouldn't happen anymore? I was just joking...lol
