I'm Confused About History/Most Played
« on: June 18, 2012, 05:09:37 PM »
So, I've been attempting to figure out the most played option. It shows music, but I'm incredibly confused about what it all means. I can't decipher it at all, it'll say like "13|72 Monster (Skillet)" or something, but I can't figure out what those two numbers mean. Neither make any sense at all to me, since it says in the Database "History>Most played (Plays|Score)" but I have played it more than 13 times most likely and can absolutely not rate it 72. You can only rate up to ten. I'd like my confusion cleared up... greatly. Thanks.

(Also, I performed a quick search on here and couldn't find the answer. I didn't see anything quickly checking on the Wiki either or by googling, so don't just tell me to search. I've already done that.)

Although I am not completely sure about this because I am not a developer or anything like that I assume that the numbers must be seen as a fraction that tells you the frequency of the played song. For example, 13/72 Monster (Skillet) means that out of 72 played songs, 13 songs have been Monster by Skillet. Or, normalized, about 18 of 100 played songs have been this song. It means that every about 5.5th song you played was this song. Just solve the fraction, multiply by 100 and you get the percentage of the plays of this song so far (about 18%). I guess the reason for giving it out as a fraction is that a fraction can be more accurate while at the same time requiring less space than a decimal number. By the way, nice song.

Nice guess, but, its "plays/score".

Which (If memory serves) is:

plays - total amount of times <track> has been played
score - averaged playback duration (a percentile of how much of <track> you listen to, averaged over play count)

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

Well that makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying that!

Wow! Replies! XD Somehow this thread worked it's way out of Readitlater in Firefox so I didn't check it for awhile. :P

Ok, so when it says "29|52 Sun Of Nothing (Between The Buried And Me)" which is right now at the top it means I've played it 29 times and listened to 52% of the song on average every play? Is that right?

Sebastian: Heh, yeah I mostly play Monster on guitar instead of listen to it though. I haven't listened to SKillet in forever because they were my favorite band before so I listened to them a ton, but since they haven't released anything new since I started buying their music I haven't listened to them much because it's all old. I play their stuff a lot though. Their still my favorite band, I just don't listen to them as much. :P
