Newer firmware

Am i allowed to use newer firmware of the salsa clip zip? Or must i use the the site links to?(Maybe of bricking possibilities?)

The software will refuse to let you patch any firmware that hasn't already been tested, so its always safe to try.  Worst case the installer will just refuse to do it if its some new firmware we haven't tested yet.
