Clip+ 3.11.2 Dies/crashes randomly at shutdown (or start?)

(1/2) > >>

Qtax:
Using 3.11.2 on Sansa Clip+ (2GB + 8GB SD card) it some times dies/crashes randomly at shutdown (usually  "idle poweroff"). The only way I can boot it again is by holding the power button for 30+ sec.

When this happens the device seems to shut down properly, I can hear the "shutting down" message (voice file), after which it appears to be completely off, but I cannot start it again the normal way. (Have to do a 30+ sec power off first, after which it starts normally.)

I have not found a way to reproduce it consistently. Currently it happens somewhere between 10% to 33% of the times the device shuts down.

It doesn't matter if I have played any music or not since boot. Has happened in the main menu when using power button right after boot, or at after playing music at idle poweroff.

PS: It could possibly also be hanging at boot/start (without showing any sign of life). Don't think I tell which of those cases it is.

Is there any error log or something that I could enable/look at?
Is this a known problem?
Anything I can do to (help) fix it?

/Q/;

Qtax:
As recommended on IRC I did a chkdsk of the players drive, which fixed some errors.

Since then I haven't encountered the error again yet. Hopefully that fixed the problem.

Emospence:
How does one do a "chkdsk"?

Qtax:
On windows, with your player connected to the PC (via RockBox USB in my case, don't know if it matters), open a command prompt (with admin rights) and type:

--- Code: ---chkdsk /F <DRIVE>:
--- End code ---

Where <DRIVE> is the drive letter of your player.
For example:

--- Code: ---chkdsk /F I:
--- End code ---

Emospence:
Thanks.
