Reconfigure button layout
« on: June 11, 2012, 08:55:37 AM »
Heya,

I have a ipod classic, 6th generation that got rather wet in a heavy rain and consequently, the menu button no longer works. Fortunaly, the rest of the ipod works perfetly. I was wonderig if I attempted to install rockbox on my ipod if I could change the ipod button layout, so probably make middle button menu and double click middle menu, or something like that.

Can this be done?

Yes, but you would have to edit the keymap files and then compile your own build.  The builds we distribute have the keymap more or less locked in place.

I've been reading through documentation and read that Rockbox doesn't support Ipod Classic Generation 6, which is a massive bummer; thanks for the quick response anyway, and keep up the great work that is this project!

Where did you read that? We do support it, though the port is not finished and may be unstable.

It says that it ain't supported here:

http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/IpodFAQ#Which_iPods_does_Rockbox_support_63

On this page:

It says the ipod has partial battery recharge; what does this mean? It recharges slowly or something??

Is the ipod classic 6th generation called the ipod video? As I cannot find the manual nor the download location for my ipod :s

That's dated 2010. If you want a current list I suggest the front page.
