Sansa Fuze Plus Fuze+ - Missing mkimxboot program
warrenrh:
I am attempting to install Rockbox, on my Sansa Fuze+ (Sansa Fuze Plus) - version 2.38.06A .
The Rockbox-sansafuzeplus.pfd manual that I downloaded says that I need to make use of --
the version of mkimxboot for my operating system from Rockbox’s server:
http: //download.rockbox.org/bootloader/sandisk-sansa/mkimxboot/
I have been unable to find the indicated program.
I use Windows 7 - 64 bit.
I am trying the manual installation -- because the automated method failed.
Can you give me some advice, or help on finding mkimxboot - or whatever program I should use?
bluebrother:
Explain what the "automated install failed" is.
warrenrh:
Yes, I can describe the failure that happened when I attempted the Automated installation.
I basically followed the rockbox-sansafuzeplus.pdf at 2.2.1 for Automated Installation, attempting to use the instructions at: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaFuzePlusPort .
I downloaded: http://download.rockbox.org/rbutil/win32/RockboxUtility-v1.2.14.zip and extracted out the RockboxUtility.exe for use with Windows.
I downloaded and extracted the original firmware for the Fuze from: http://mp3support.sandisk.com/firmware/fuzeplus/fuzeplus02.38.06.zip and extracted out the firmware.sb file .
I attached my Sansa Fuze+ via USB MSC mode to my computer. After starting up the RockboxUtility program -- I identified my SansaFuze+ location to the RockboxUtility.
I went to the "Installation" tab, and clicked on the button to "Install the bootloader". I selected my firmware.sb file when prompted.
The installation starts... I see the following messages in a dialog box -- Downloading bootloader file.... Download finished (cache used).... Patching file...
RockboxUtility stops and fails saying in in another Dialog box that "RockboxUtility.exe has stopped working".
I am using Windows 7 - 64 bit if that might be significant .
So I decide to attempt a manual installation -- but am stopped when I can not find the mkimxboot program.

The OS used is always interesting, since all problems might be OS specific. I can reproduce this issue, will need to check this against other OSes as well.
Edit: Ok, this is a generic problem. It's caused by a change in mkimxboot which wasn't fixed in Rockbox Utility. It's fixed in the current development tree, please use a development binary of Rockbox Utility (see link in my signature).
warrenrh:
Thank You. I successfully used the Rockbox Utility.
