What do I do when my computer doesn't recognize my rockbox ipod?

Since USB doesn't work with the current build, no surprise you can't use it :)
The last stable for your player is 3.10. It should have working USB.

When I clicked on the link it downloaded very fast then opened the documents folder on my mac, but I didn't find the file in that folder. Were is it on the computer?

I don't know how one opens zip files on a Mac, but I'm sure you can figure it out on Google. Or I guess use a Windows computer if you're not familiar with how Macs work.
