iPod Classic Buzz Crashes
« on: May 28, 2012, 09:56:15 AM »
Howdy, thanks in advance for your help...

Running:
iPod Classic 1G (80 gig)
emCORE v 0.2.3 r859
UMSboot v0.1.0 r859
Rockbox v.31516-120101

The problem is that I regularly have been having a crash accompanied by a loud buzz that persists until I reset the device.

Any ideas?

That build is about five months old. Can you try a current development build?

Because it's a Classic, I can't use the RockBox utility and I have only used what freemyipod.org has in it's install section for the Classic, assuming that it is the only compatible build.  Should I try to throw the current build on there anyway via a manual installation?  Which device firmware should I upload then?

ok, upgraded to eb02778-120528
(thanks to #freemyipod-spport, user [7] who pointed me to http://build.rockbox.org/data/rockbox-ipodclassic.zip)

I'll report-in after a bit of listening

I had the same problem, and the version of Rockbox in the link above seems to have troubleshooted this.
Cool!
Thanks everybody!

That link was deprecated.

The device has had a new naming scheme for a while now, you can find the current build for this device at http://build.rockbox.org/data/rockbox-ipod6g.zip

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
