Library is broken (c240, Panic).
« on: May 26, 2012, 05:12:48 AM »
First, I want to apologize for my poor English.

After a few months, I wanted to upgrade my Rockbox (c240 v2). Update was successful but when I tried to rebuild the library, Sansa displayed "Panic" and started to reboot over and over again.

Of course, I tried reinstall. Many times. Both way, using the Utility and manually (mkamsboot, patching firmware, etc etc). The result was always the same - Panic.

All I can do to help resolve this problem is:

Sansa c240 ver2 1GB
Kingston uSD 2GB
Firmware 3.02.05a
Rockbox build 3f72ba0

edit: I tried almost all build from here:
http://www.rockbox.org/dl.cgi?bin=sansac200v2
Same problem as above. Panic. Maybe my Sansa is dying?

tofmin, I'm pretty sure this is a software problem and your sansa is not dying. Other players seem to have a similar problem, see for example http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/12684 . We'll hopefully fix this in a few days/weeks.

Oh, thanks God :)

And good to know that you know about the problem and are working on a solution. You are doing a great job!

FYI build 87bb747 works great. After few hours of testing - no PANIC anymore.

Thanks guys!

edit:
I noticed only one problem: sometimes I must rebuild the database several times to Sansa showed all the songs (i.e.  update #1 - 3 folders, update #2 - 5 folders, update #3 - all 11 folders).

I wonder if the c200v2 has insufficient memory for some database updates.  I'm not sure how it would handle running out of memory...

Hi.

Library is broken, again. Stuck on "Building database... 28x".

Tried:
- reinstaling (manualy and via Utility),
- with uSD and without uSD.

Also, with uSD insterted, device do not boot with Sansa firmware (tested with 4 cards).

If I can somehow help you, please ask / tell how.

Thanks.

edit: Where I can find older releases? Older than these http://www.rockbox.org/dl.cgi?bin=sansac200v2

edit 2: The problem occurs only when there is no uSD card and when the card is empty. But the original software does not start ever if the card is inserted.

http://download.rockbox.org/release/ for old releases.

For old development versions you'll need to build them yourself.

We don't have old releases for the c200v2, so you'll have to compile.

Darn... Nothing works.
No card (or empty card), RB stuck on "rebuild". With card inserted, OF don't start.

I'll wait and every few days I'll testing the new builds.

Thanks.

If this is a large database you may just have run out of free RAM.

Nope. Even if card is empty and i made a "fresh installation" of RB, device always stuck.

As I said, no/empty card = stuck. With card = no OF.

Maybe I misunderstand you, but you must have at least one music file to build the database.  If there is no music at all on the player I think the parser fails.

Ah, don't know that. In that case - RB works like a charm. Only one problem left: card inserted - can't boot to OF (hangs on SanDisk welcome screen).
