When a battery is fully discharged it is said to be "dead".  Since you can't remove the battery, you might have to wait for it to discharge.

Serenity:
I accidentally unplugged the USB on my Fuze v2 without unmounting it (thought it was the cable to my external HDD). I got the white Panic screen and now it's completely unresponsive, just like dkddkd13's. I can't boot into the OFW or reset, so I'll throw it in a drawer for now and see how long it takes my freshly charged battery to drain.

Edit 27 June: That worked a treat! Battery drained, I booted into the Sansa firmware, reinstalled Rockbox (just in case) and I'm back in business! Thanks saratoga!
