Brand new CLIP Zip Bricked Help please.

(1/3) > >>

sluker:
I just got this to replace a Clip+ I gave to my Dad. First thing I did is to install the latest RockBox build (I also have it on my ipod 5.5 and had it on the Clip+).
When I it finished reading the SD card I tried to hard reboot and it came up with the following screen

*PANIC*
audio_reset_Buffer_noalloc(): EOM (65536 >0)
bt pc: 0x3003DF3
     A:  0x3003DFB
     A:  0x3003E01
     A:  0x30018BC
     A:  0x3001906
     A:  0x3080866

Once this screen comes up pressing any other button turns the player off and then a hard reset sends it into the same loop again.
When I try to connect it to a PC Windows 7 recognizes it as a USB device but does not install any driver and disables it so I can not access it through the PC to re-flash the OF
Is this thing toast?
Is there anythin

saratoga:
Reboot into the sandisk firmware, check the disk for errors, and then paste the contents of your config.cfg file from the .rockbox folder..

Also, generally speaking, if the display is on, its not bricked, since bricks don't have working screens :)

sluker:
excuse my ignorance, but how do I re-boot into the sandisk firmware? i have tried holding down the various button combos and nothing works.

Its left while booting on the Clip+.  If that doesn't work on the Zip, check the manual (I don't own a Zip but its pretty similar to the +).

MrTotoro:
Exactly the same issue here with a new fresh install and following the reset procedure (http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/188/~/resetting-a-sansa-player) does not give the possibility to boot the sandisk firmware.

It sucks  :'(
Post Merge: May 30, 2012, 07:00:06 AM...after more than a dozen of tries by hard resetting + inserting/removing the SD Card randomly => the original Sandisk FW has finally booted and I was able to remove this damned FW + bootloader.

IMOH, Rockbox is really unreliable with the Clip Zip!
