IPod disk into Iriver3x, Cowon X5?
(1/1)
Anvil2k12:
a friend gave me a nice small hard disk (120 gb)
from a disassembled IPod (see attach).
does anybody know whether adapter for
IRiver 3x or Cowon X5 do exist or is this
modified Toshiba Apple's usual lock-in?
regards
Damian
geekabit:
My iaudio X5 is currently working with the harddisk (4GB) from an iPod mini.
There is a catch, though. While the connectors on the iPod and the X5 look similar, they are not pin compatible. The X5 has some sort of ide pinout, while the iPod is compact flash compatible. I used a converter from ebay (similar to: http://www.ebay.nl/itm/Compact-Flash-CF-SSD-To-Toshiba-IPod-1-8-inch-Adapter-/190414273333) for this.
This setup works fine for me, but I'm not sure if it works for your specific iPod harddisk.
I can take some pictures for reference if you like.
edit: oops, I just noticed the image you posted. That's definitely a different model harddisk. You might be able to connect it using an other adapter (like: http://www.ebay.nl/itm/ZIF-CE-1-8-to-1-8-inch-Micro-IDE-50-pin-PATA-HDD-Adaptor-Adapter-Converter-a5-/300806680664).
