Re:bluetooth on creative zen xfi3
H all,
I have a nudeaudio bluetooth speaker which I managed to pair with my player and Rockbox.
I started the original firmware and paired it and then keeping this connection  restarted player into rockbox and bluetooth function works!I love rockbox on this player thanks to all the programmers especially Amaury.

csussman:
i just got a zen x-fi3 and installed rockbox which generally seems to be working fine, but i am having a couple of problems:
1. I can't figure out how to save a file name

2. rockboy requires 9 buttons, and the x-fi3 only has 8.
maybe a third button can be added on bottom between the 2 official buttons

3. in rockboy when you try rotating the screen one way (i think left) it crashes when you go to the menu

4. i can't find the jump/fire button in the zxbox emulator

csussman:
can s/o explain how to remove rockbox. (i need to exchange an 8gb player for 16gb)

pamaury:
To remove rockbox, download https://www.dropbox.com/s/bsg24zuqppfnuhj/creative_zenxfi3_1.00.25.sb, boot to the OF (Original Firmware) in USB mode (by holding volume down on boot), put the file at the root of the device and rename it to firmware.sb. Then unplug and reboot to the OF, it should trigger a firmware update and remove the Rockbox bootloader. If that doesn't work, remove the file and retry. Be sure to boot to the OF.

Note: the file on dropbox is the one which can be extracted from any firmware upgrade from Creative using cabextract (see wiki page)

Hi,

I've been updating my Creative Zen X-Fi 3 with new RockBox versions recently and with each release, RockBox firmware was working better and the device had less and less problems. Thank you people.

Last night I left it in the car, while it was ON (or maybe off) and it was connected to a 3.5mm audio cable which was then connected to the AUX port on the car's player. It wasn't connected to any sort of battery charger in the car and the car's player just turns itself off automatically with the car. So the X-Fi 3 was just on its own, probably playing files as long as it had any battery power left.

After about 16 hours I went back to the car to get my X-Fi 3 out of it and to recharge it if the battery was empty.

I tried to turn it on and nothing happened. I left it connected to the charger for a few hours but didn't seem to get charged because neither I could turn the device on (the reset button doesn't work either) nor the adapter was getting warm (meaning that it wasn't probably doing anything all those hours)!

I then connected the X-Fi 3 to my PC using a USB cable and again Nothing happened. Nothing changes in Windows' Device Manager when I connect this device to the computer!

Also the recovery mode doesn't load (which according to the Creative support is power-on into OF and then holding the - button). The device won't even turn on for me to go to the recovery mode!

What do you think happened? Is this more like a hardware problem or a software one?

Knowing that it was only playing files on its own battery while being only connected to a 3.5mm audio cable, how could anything possibly go wrong?

I had the option "shutdown after x hours" turned on in the past but disabled it a few weeks ago because it was annoying! So I actually never had my X-Fi 3's battery totally emptied (except a few times while I was on the OF).

Should I send the device to Creative support to fix it or is there any way to like 'hard reset' it?! Do you think the battery is Dead or something because maybe RockBox didn't shut the device down when the battery was too low? (or maybe it crashed somehow and the device remained on with an error on the screen until the battery was out, who knows!)
