INSTALLATION HELP NEEDED!

hey guys so I have a sansa fuze v2, and I downloaded the Rockbox Utility but as soon as i open the program it says NETWORK ERROR "cant get version information Network Error: Host download.rockbox.org not found. Please check your network and proxy settings"

How can I manually install it? So confusing! Thanks for the help !

Do you have internet access?  if not, you can follow the manual install directions found in the manual for your player.  However, these are more complicated then doing the automatic install.

2.2.3  Bootloader installation from Windows

1.
Create a folder called “rbinstall” on your desktop, and then extract the OF, the bootloader and mkamsboot into it.
2.
Open a new command prompt, and navigate to the “rbinstall” folder.
3.
Run mkamsboot.exe, passing the name of the OF and bootloader files that you downloaded, in addition to a name for the output file.
  mkamsboot.exe fuzpa.bin bootloader-fuzev2.sansa patched.bin
If mkamsboot.exe does not report success, then retry or abort.

4.
Copy the output file (“patched.bin” in the example given above) to the root of the device and rename it to the same name as the OF file you downloaded earlier (“fuzpa.bin” above).



I have created the folder with all the correct files, but I do not understand what to do next, it says open cmd the command prompt then "navigate" to the rbinstall folder? How do I do that? and step 3 is a little confusing too im sorry.

If you haven't used the command line, its probably a better idea to trouble shoot your connection issues.  Disable any firewalls, make sure you're connected to the internet, or try a different PC.

thanks It was a problem with my laptop, ended up using the pc instead and it worked lol !

the whole interface is pretty confusing and browsing the music on here is a little difficult, is there any way I could make it just show my music and important things without it looking like i'm going through a bunch of folders?

If you don't want to browse by folder, then use the database.  Then you can browse by file tag (assuming your files are tagged anyway).
