Hi there,
I installed Rockbox installer V7.5 and followed its intstructions in read me file. I clicked on Installer.bat then asked me for 7za.exe. I copied, 7za.exe & paste to rockbox folder. Then run again installer.bat then asked me for bootloader.bin, copied this also to rockbox folder. Clicked installer.bat then installation process prompted. After installing I disconnected ipod from pc & experienced errors after. An exclamation point and folder icon appears on the iPod screen. I pressed menu/middle button to restart. However, ipod won't reboot. Can you help me with this situation? Thanks. I appreciate.

@icj_j
It sounds to me like you haven't extracted everything correctly. Just keep the original folder intact from the zip and you won't have any problems with the file checks at the start.
If the installer will not uninstall it correctly, I recommend that you used
forced disk mode
, and then update your firmware (through a downgrade and update).
I'm fresh out of ideas for the 5G installation problem. It did work before the GUI versions, but the code is basically the same as before as far as the base process.

I can tell u my experience using installer 7.1: I had same boot screen telling me to contact apple support. I then run uninstaller, and ipod came back to its original state. After that I used manual installation, following step by step tutorial, and everything worked fine.

Ok, another new version is out (v7.6).
This has basically made it so that the install process is done within the one folder, therefore subdirectories aren't used at all. This is what I guess to be the 5G problem - ipod_fw wouldn't recognise the Broadcom extract because it was going through subdirectories. That should now be fixed.
For download in the iPW thread about it as usual, thanks for the continued support and hopefully this has fixed the problem!

Thanks
Can you (or anybody) report that it does indeed work for the 5G?
There really aren't too many more features to be put into the installer from here on. Bjehsus is apparently working on Doom/Pacman installation as a side-feature.
Are there any features that you guys would like to see built into it?

I posted link to your thread on an ipod newsgroup, maybe someone will test it. I have already installed mine so I don't even try uninstalling
Just one feature that would be good, is the installation of the ipodloader 2.0 instead of rockbox bootloader, maybe giving user the choice between the 2 booter. That's just an idea of something that could be added, but not so important indeed.

Sounds good, I'm sure that it could be possible to work in.
I'll have a look at it in the future.
Also, it (v7.6) has been confirmed working on 5G iPods

This should _not_ be a sticky in my opinion. Until it's the official installer, it would be bad for people to report bugs on it, or pester devs for help with it if it causes problems still. Once it is the official installer, then instructions for using it can be put in the wiki more thorougly.

This is the (unofficial, as above) Windows Installer. It will not automatically format your iPod to FAT32 yet.
We are working on a new version, which will have many more install paths to follow. Of course, the normal RB bootloader, Loader2 installation, and the installation of RB builds to an iPod with Loader2. We will do this basically so everybody is covered with this one installer, whether you use iPodLinux or not, or whether you are a new user or not. This would be one of the final versions until more suggestions come in, because it will cover everything that needs to be covered as far as installing Rockbox goes.
I also agree with Llorean, this really shouldn't be a sticky until it is taken on board as the official installer. It is unofficial, and therefore not supported by the devs. At the moment, it is a work in progress and questions about it definitely don't have anything to do with Rockbox devs (as far as, they aren't responsible or necessarily behind this installer).

could you work on something that will let you install without being administrator?

As far as I know, an Administrator account is needed for ipodpatcher.exe to run read/write commands to the iPod.
This being the case, it would be impossible to make a work around (unless somebody could work with ipodpatcher source to find a different way).
Therefore, it isn't the installer's fault, nor can it be fixed by an installer.
