Convert FLAC to WAV on the fly?

I have just bought my first mp3 player (yes, I know!): Sandisk Sansa Clip+ because it can play FLAC files, and I thought I could connect it to my hifi system and play the FLAC files through it, but ofcoarse I have discovered that you can't.

I don't know if there is some way to get round this problem:  Can Rockbox already sort this problem out for me, or, as I mentioned in the 'subject' above, could Rockbox convert FLAC to WAV to be able to listen to cd quality sound on my hifi system?

If this isn't possible what is the cheapest way (but still keeping a good quality of sound) of making this happen?

I don't really understand the question.why do you think you can't use the clip with your stereo?

I just want to connect my Clip+ up to my hifi system by connecting a cable with a 3.5mm jack (which connects to the headphone socket on the Clip+) and the other end of the cable which has  phono connections which connects to one of the inputs on the back of my amplifier.

I want to play FLAC music on the Clip+ and sound will come out of my hifi speakers through my hifi amplifier.

Is this possible: Will my hifi system be able to play the sound?

I have connected it up but no sound is coming out of the speakers - unless I did something wrong, which  I don't think I have.

Yes you did something wrong.  This isnt related to rockbox or flac. Check the manual for your stereo . It probably says how to hook up an external audio device.

Could the problem be that the sound coming out of the Clip+ is so low that it needs to be amplified which you have to with some amplifiers when connecting a turntable?

At full volume, the Clip puts out line level, so it will work fine with any line in.
