Sansa Clip Zip button comboing / assigning issues

It seems, at least with the one I'm using, I cannot press certain button combos without encountering stuttering or no response. There are also issues keybinding / assigning buttons.

[Movement]

-Up and Left
-Many combinations involving the Back button.

[Assignment]

-Buttons are not labeled properly when given the option to assign keys.
-Volume Down not assignable.

That is normal.  The Zip wires most of the buttons into a row/column matrix, so its not possible to have certain combinations pushed at the same time:
