240gb ipod hard drive problem
« on: March 22, 2012, 01:49:26 PM »
Hi
I broke the screen on my 80g 5.5 ipod so whist i had it apart i also replaced the hard drive with a 240g one. I also replaced the battery and fully recharged it (about 18hrs via a wall socket) Have reassembled but although i can get it into the disc mode my itunes wont recognise it to reformat.
It appears in the device manager but that's it. I can't see the disc in the disc management page.

Have tried to put the old hard drive back in and/ or the old battery but get the same problem. After a few minutes of the disc mode it reverts to the sad ipod face.

Any ideas?

Thanks

i would suggest :
Remove the cable connecting the hard drive to the main board
BE SURE TO USE THE CLIPS on both ends.
Some people dont know there are clips because it is possible to force the cable in and out with out realizing
there were any clips in there are all .
if you need to see how its done you can find videos on youtube.

Then put the cable back as perfectly as possible and lock the clip,
first do the hard drive end then do the main board and lock it into place.
i had a similar problem it got fixed after I reinserted the cable correctly.
then go to itunes and do a restore, then install rockbox.

hope it helps
