[Solved] ATA Error: -1
«

Hello everybody, i'm French, so I want to apologize for my poor English before starting this topic. So I have bought a new 240 Gb HDD and connected it with a Zif converter on my Cowon X5L, but this message appears : ATA Error: - 1. What does it means. Is there any way to fix it ? Thanks.

I don't know exactly what -1 means, but I suspect it fails very early (error values tend to increase further in the sequence in the ATA driver). Are you sure all cables are connected properly?

Yes, because it works if I plug my old HDD. I just don't know how to change a HDD, and I see that a lot of people has done that.

I don't see how your old HD (which doesn't have the ZIF adapter) or the fact that other people have managed this prove that you connected the ZIF cable properly.

For starters, check if you haven't put the cable in upside down.

What error number do you get if you start the player without the HDD connected? If it's -1 as well I'd say there's a good chance that something with the connection is the problem.

I get actually -1 without the HDD. Maybe the zif connector ? I bought it new.

Don't do that.
It's likely a connection issue, as you have already been told. There's not much more anyone can say.
