Can't install rockbox -> check network and proxy settings

Hey,

I've gone through the forum before posting this and can't seem to find any solutions.

Anyways, I'm trying to install rockbox, but it gives me that error "please check network and proxy settings".  However, i do not use a proxy and my is internet working fine.

I've tried turning off firewall, as that's the only thing i have running. But this did not work as well.

It gives me that error during the installation when it says "getting themes information"... I've read that that part of the server is going under maintenance which can cause the issue, but i've also read that it has been resolved, yet i'm still getting the error.

There are two important points here:
1. You are only experiencing this when trying to install themes, everything else installs fine.
2. The first part of that error message, which reads "Network error: Request aborted." This indicates a problem with the server Rockbox Utility is trying to retrieve data from, since it was actually possible to start a request.

Currently there is a known issue with the script on the theme server that tells Rockbox Utility about the available themes. This issue is known and you should be able to find it in the forums.

Have you actually read the contents of the log window? If it says an operation finished successfully it finished successfully.

2)  The source of the problem has been identified and localized

then

3)  When will a fix be implemented?

I had a look just now, and there was an easy to fix error on the server. You should be able to install themes again

The previous reply was still true and as accurate as possible. Predicting when something will be fixed (especially in an all-volunteer project) is basically impossible.

I can definitely appreciate that.  However, it wasn't so much the content of the message as the tone it was delivered in.

That being said, I have more pressing problems this morning: My Fuze V2seems to be bricked after being left plugged in overnight.  The install completed successfully and I loaded it up with music.  I ejected the player from Windows 7 but left it plugged in to charge.  This morning there was a white screen with a bunch of text on it far too small for me to read.  I unplugged it, turned it off and attempted to turn it back on.  Zip.  I'm still investigating and will likely start a new thread depending on what I find...
