Crossfade Sansa clip zip
« on: March 08, 2012, 03:46:48 PM »
In the current build cd5ee6f, sansa clip zip has a problem with the crossfade in playback mode.
Setting duration of fading out and duration of fade in to 3 sec and 5 sec resp., it will fade out correctly, then there is a short silent gap, and then the next clip will start playing with a clicking sound, but there is no fading in at all.
is this a know error?

I haven't heard this reported, but its possible no one has noticed.  Can you try reporducing it in the simulator using the same settings as cause it on the device:

http://rasher.dk/rockbox/simulator/sansaclipplus-sim-w32.zip

(The clip+ and zip simulators are identical aside from the screen so the + one should be fine if you don't feel like compiling a Zip one from scratch).

This might be a stupid question: I ran the simulator, but how do I put music into it to run a useful simulation?

Put it in the simdisk folder.

Okay, thankx. I am not able to reproduce  it in the Clip+ simulator, with the settings it described, crossfade works as would be expected in the sim.
But it keeps apperearing in my Clip Zip though, with exactly the same settings:
Shuffle YES, Crossfade YES, Mode CROSSFADE, Fade in duration 5 sec, Fade in delay 0 sec, Fade out duration 3 sec, Fade out delay 0 sec.

If you reset the settings on the Zip and then use the ones from the sim does it still happen?

No, it has disappeared on the Zip running exactly the same settings as I used on the Clip+ Sim.
But I downloaded the theme-set onto the Zip at the same time.
To make sure this didn't interfere, I ran the same default theme, and I am still not able to reproduce it.
So it looks like it has been solved (but how?).

If you figure out how to reproduce it, file a bug report on the tracker.

Hey guys I just bought this player and I noticed the same arnoud's problem.
I'm using the last build (bb0e4cc-120405) and my settings are:

Crossfeed: always
Fade-in delay: 0s
Fade-in duration: 6s
Fade-out delay: 0s
Fade-out duration: 6s
Fade-out Mode: crossfeed

I noticed that problem only when I manually skip the songs.
There's no problem when I choose the next song from the playlist or when a song ends and another one begins.

Anyway, nice work! I <3 RB! :D

Yes, I am getting the same problem, along with weird clicking noises when I change the volume level. I'll try to recreate my settings to try and reproduce the problem.
