Searching database with pre-selection of first letter of the artist or album
(1/1)
Grafzahl:
Hi, I don't know weather this could be realized through a specific theme or improvement in database management.
Maybe you remember Rio Karma or Trekstor Vibez?
Whe you navigate to database first and then choose artist-navigation, there had been a third navigation layer with capital letters.
On these players one could then first scroll through the alphabet before choosing a specific artist.
An example:
When you have 100 artists in your database with names starting with A, B, C, D, or E then on sansa clip+ you now have to scroll one hundred times down before reaching the first artist with a name beginning with F.
If there would be a 3rd layer allowing to scroll through the alphabet first, then one had to scroll five times down from A to F and one would be a little bit quicker navigating in big databases.
On the before mentioned players the "alphabet" had been realized with one coloumn of one letter width, the first letter of the artist, on the left side of the screen.
I hope at least you understand what I am searching for.
And please excuse my poor English language knowledge.
I appreciate your hard work very much.
Regards

You can probably do this with a custom tagnavi: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/DataBase#tagnavi.config_v2.0_Syntax

Thanks AlexP, this sound good, I'll have a try.
Thanks a lot.
Grafzahl:
I am so stupid.
I am using the balanced-theme on a sansa clip+
And simply after choosing database navigation I only should have scrolled down to the last entry which is ... A-Z...
Next layer is artists, album or tracks and oops there I am, able to preselect the first letter.
Fantastic.
