Sync with windows when booted in rockbox?
« on: May 12, 2012, 06:48:16 AM »
Hi,

Just tried to sync my sansa fuze with my computer to add a CD to my player. The message 'installing driver' comes up but then so does 'driver not installed.' I did manage to sync it by booting into the sansa firmware but then I have to wait for the sansa to refresh the media, shut the player off and boot it to rockbox, then update the database to get access. While this isn't terrible, I have a lot of songs and it takes time.

Is there a way to sync while fuze is in rockbox?

Thanks.

...running the latest stable install offered by the automatic installer but I can't find the specific info on the player, sorry. If you tell me how I will post it.

Clip+ users are having a similar problem (see this thread).  Try plugging your Fuze into a different USP port on your computer

On the Clip+, you can hold the power button down for about 20 seconds before unplugging, which will prevent it booting into the original firware when you unplug.  Remember to unmount the device in Windows first though.

Synctoy http://tinyurl.com/6mtraua works well. You just set up which folders to sync and set the parameters and away you go.

Thanks cs96and, your suggestion didn't actually work but it helped me get there. For anyone else having a problem.

1)boot player in rockbox and connect.
2) wait for it to go through the motions off trying to install the driver and failing
3) Press the left arrow on your device and disconnect.
4) Now when you switch on the player it should say, file not found, plug usb cable.
5) Plug it in with that message still up, the computer will now recognize it as Rockbox sd slot.
6) Now open the rockbox utility and reinstall the bootloader, just the bootloader and unplug. If you want to add themes etc then plug back in and do it through the extras tab. Seems the complete install doesn't like usb.
