Battery usage (recharging) while connected to USB
« on: March 03, 2012, 11:44:06 AM »
Hi, I want to use my Iriver h320 with Rockbox as a hard drive and wonder what mode is best to use when connected.  A mode that I my device (dvd player with USB) can browser the file while not consuming energy or better yet, recharge while not in too much use.

I especially want to know if the Rockbox "Bootloader USB mode" does not consume energy (or even better, recharge itself when not in further use)?

Thank you.

There's not much to consider here. When the CPU is turned on it consumes power. Other devices in the player also consume power (like the audio chip), but that's not really a problem if you don't use them. The hard disk is the part that needs the most power, and if you have the hard disk spinning everything else is pretty much neglectable.

I don't think the bootloader supports charging via USB.
