Solved - Ipod 5g ZIF cable and CF compact flash adapter
(1/1)
Heychris:
All,
I've been trying to mod my ipod 5.5G to use compact flash. I read through the wiki as well as countless hours of online searching, dozens of small packages from china and an undisclosed number of hours tinkering.
I finally realized that most of the ZIF sockets only work on one side or the other. With a magnifying glass I looked at the contacts which appear to be on both sides. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case. In order to maintain the pin 1 location you need a "flip cable" which has contacts pointing up on one side and down on the other.
Is this common knowledge or would it be helpful to write up?
The ipod 5.5g uses a special cable which dictates the orientation of the adapter. Is there any solution to getting the wrong orientation adapters fixed?

hello,
i am new on this site.
i found at www.tarkan.info an adapter for ipod 5g to compact flash cards.
i am interested in this adapter for an iriver h10 5gb conversion to cf cards.
has the ipod 5g the same zif connection as an iriver h10 with the seagate st 1.2 flex (ata flex- ata7) ?
if so , this adapter is what i am looking for.
