Cowon X5 CF 64GB mod - money wasted?
« on: February 22, 2012, 12:32:37 PM »
hello folks,

can't get it working with my new
Transcend UDMA CF 64GB 400x - 'HDD error'.

just copied all the files from its predecessor
CF a high speed Toshiba 16GB.

according to this site some guys got a
Transcend 32GB working with SVN boatloader
but I could not figure out what SVN is standing
for.

any help appreciated.

regards
Damian

SVN is the version control software we used until a month or so ago.  In this context, SVN refers to the current version of the source code (and would now be called the "git" version since we're using that instead of svn).

done and dusted!

for those who may change either -
just xcopy files from a working but
smaller CF does not work.
and  don't worry - all mmedia-files
already transfered will not be deleted!

1st
get Rockbox Utility
http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/RockboxUtility#Download

2nd
if exist:
delete .rockbox using Win-Explorer, Total Commander or whatever
delete any existing x5*.bin on the root

3rd
attach device, start the utility
note: allow exception in the firewall

4th
start Rockbox Utility
select device (drive letter) by clicking the Change button

5th
a windows appears, pick Cowon iAudio X5/X5L (Stable)
return to main window

6th
click Complete Installation [button with tools]

c'est tout!

result:
Volume in drive G is COWON_X5
Volume Serial Number is FC30-3DA9

Directory of G:\
22-02-2012  17:12    <DIR>          Video
22-02-2012  17:18    <DIR>          Audio
23-02-2012  10:24    <DIR>          FIRMWARE
23-02-2012  10:24    <DIR>          .rockbox
               0 File(s)              0 bytes
               4 Dir(s)  59,098,103,808 bytes free

where Audio and Video contains my files.
no bin on the root.
don't get distracted by the loose wires on the right,
its a detached microphone lead and an extra power
supply to get rid of the lock-in adapter

I will post final pics there either asap.
